Digital Fluidics Enables Broad-based Access to Push-button NGS Sample Prep

Volta Labs™ has developed a novel electrowetting (EWOD) format and core set of technologies that address persistent challenges in NGS sample prep—particularly those related to performance, the implementation of automated workflows, and per-sample cost. The system accommodates a wide range of volumes, spanning two logarithmic units, thereby minimizing the need to reformulate reagents. Sample and reagent manipulation is largely plastic-free, minimizing material loss and preserving sample integrity. Tight control over enzymatic reactions and unique capabilities enable miniaturization and reductions in cost and turnaround time, while preserving sequencing quality. The Volta Labs system supports a wide range of applications, including push-button extraction of high-quality nucleic acids; versatile, platform-agnostic library preparation compatible with benchtop and production-scale sequencers; and high-performance hybridization capture.
