Assessment of a Novel Digital Fluidics Platform for Rapid Sample Processing from Whole Blood to Library

Broad Clinical Labs (BCL) evaluated a walk-away, end-to-end DNA extraction to library construction platform from Volta Labs, which employs digital fluidics technology controlling the sample chemistry. The technology used in digital fluidics is able to circumvent bottlenecks in traditional production methods and can create a short read library from whole blood in ~4 hours. This system allows for reaction optimization otherwise impossible in standard tube-based chemistry methods. Benefits of this technology include flexible scaling, operational efficiency, fast turnaround times and improved sustainability.
